Introducing the current VUHRD Online Student Advisory Council!
This post is all about introducing our current Online Student Advisory Council! Currently, we have three members in the Online Student Advisory Council, or SAC: Nikki Larkin, Kaila Julia, and Denise Fenwick. Each member of SAC is a current student in our online program. These students were nominated by faculty from the program to serve, and the position is voluntary. SAC helps the VUHRD program by getting new students acquainted with expectations during our New Student Orientation each session. SAC members also serve as a liaison between students and VUHRD administrators and help offer support when new and prospective students have questions that are best answered by other students. VUHRD is extremely lucky to have the support of this team.

NIKKI LARKIN
I am originally from Upstate NY and received my B.S. from SUNY Brockport in 2007 with a dual major in Communications and History. I moved to San Diego four years ago with my husband and was lucky enough to transfer with my company. I work in operations and HR at Target in a Store Director role. I have been with my company for ten years, and I am looking to get into HR fulltime, which is how I found the HRD program at Villanova and have not looked back since. Although it has been challenging to work fulltime and go to school, I feel fulfilled in a way I have not before in my collegiate career, and for that, I'm thankful for the #VUHRD program.
KAILA JULIA
Hello! My name is Kaila Julia, and I am a graduate student in the Human Resource Development Master’s program. I graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a B.S. in Mathematics in 2012. I am a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy and am stationed in Virginia Beach, VA. I am originally from West Palm Beach, FL. I took an interest in HR after realizing the aspects of my current job that I love—training and development, policy training, curriculum development—are part of the HR world. I enjoy observing how the concepts and theories I learn in class work in my current position. In my spare time, I work out, read, play board games with friends, and hang out with my rescue dog Cupid.
DENISE FENWICK
I am located in Wake Forest, North Carolina and work for Nationwide Insurance as a Sr. HR Director. I have been with Nationwide for 11 years. Prior to Nationwide, I led the HR department for a large franchise of the Applebee’s organization. I am originally from Western Pennsylvania and earned a B.S. from Carnegie Mellon University with a major in Policy and Management. I am a busy working mom of three spirited children, and the Villanova HRD program has allowed me the flexibility to earn a master’s degree in the field I love while leading a very hectic life! Go Nova! #VUHRD
Thank you to this team for your service to the VUHRD program and students!
