Villanova SHRM Student Chapter
About VUSHRM
The Villanova University SHRM Chapter is an active student group founded in 1985. This student organization is an affiliate of the Society of Human Resource Management.
VUSHRM is run by a Board of HRD graduate students who organize and coordinate interactive programming for students in the Human Resource Development graduate program and all VUSHRM members.
This student SHRM chapter has been awarded both the Outstanding Chapter Award and Superior Merit Award dozens of times since it was founded. Most recently, VUSHRM was one of only fifteen chapters that were awarded the Outstanding Merit Award for 2020-2021!
Throughout the year, VUSHRM plans networking opportunities, hosts workplace site visits, coordinates mentoring programs, holds professional development workshops and actively volunteers in the community.

Join VUSHRM
Joining VUSHRM is an excellent way for students interested in HR to jump start a career in human resources!
Membership for the 2023-2024 academic year will be FREE for all students interested in joining VUSHRM. All events are FREE to attend.
(Note: Some special programs offered may require a fee to register.)
If you are interested in joining VUSHRM please fill out this form. Please use your Villanova email address when completing the form.
All VUSHRM members are encouraged to also join the SHRM National Organization. SHRM National Student membership is available at a discounted rate and includes all the amazing resources for HR professionals. Information on joining SHRM National can be found here.
Graduating VUSHRM members who have a Student National Membership can switch to a SHRM Professional Membership at a discounted rate.

To be a member in good standing, you must:
Attend at least 2 VUSHRM events per semester (16 weeks)
Attend Level Up HR 2024. Can be virtual, in-person, or asynchronous. (free for students)

President | Marisa D'Errico
Hi y'all, my name is Marisa! I am originally from Southern California but moved to Austin, Texas five years ago for undergrad. I graduated from Southwestern University with a Business major and a minor in Spanish. I am a second year Graduate Assistant in the HRD program. Over the summer I interned with Sabre Systems, Inc. with their HR team as an HR intern. I am so excited to learn even more about HR in my last year and taking the SHRM-CP exam!
Director of Communications | Aisling Maguire
Hey there! My name is Aisling and I'm from Columbus, OH. I'm currently a first year student and graduate assistant in the HRD program. I'm a Villanova alum from the Class of 2023 where I studied in Psychology. I'm so excited to learn more about the world of HR and build on my experiences so far! I look forward to joining in different parts of the graduate community and spending another year on Villanova's beautiful campus!
Director of Chapter Operations | Diep Tran
Hello everyone! I’m Diep Tran and I’m from Vietnam. I graduated from University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor in Business Administration (Management option) and a minor in Hospitality Management. Currently, I am a first-year graduate student at Villanova and a Graduate Assistant in the HRD program. Before coming to Villanova, I worked as a Training and Development specialist in the banking and hospitality industries. Through my work, I developed a strong interest in T&D and HR so I’m coming to Villanova with a great passion to learn more about different HR functions and aspects. I’m excited to build up my knowledge, experience, and network through the HRD program as well as VUSHRM.
Director of Finance | Maddie McClay
Hi everyone, my name is Maddie! I’m from Exton, PA and I am currently a second-year graduate student and Graduate Assistant in the HRD program. I’m a proud 2023 Villanova alumn where I studied Psychology and Peace and Justice in my undergrad. I have a strong background in HR operations and talent acquisition but am looking forward to expanding my scope of HR through my masters’ classes and office experience! I am excited to be rejoining the Villanova community through the HRD program and am eager to grow into this new position!
Director of Membership Engagement | Tyra Johnson
Hey, I'm Tyra! I am from Peoria, Illinois. I received my B.A in Human resource management and Communication rhetorical studies from Illinois College. I am currently a Graduate Assistant in the HRD program, pursuing my MS and certification in Inclusion & Diversity Strategy. I am excited to be part of the team and help anyone, so feel free to reach out.

VUSHRM is a student run organization funded entirely through a small Villanova student organization budget, donations, and fundraising. All the merchandise on the VUSHRM Shop will help to support VUSHRM programming.
All the t-shirts you see in this picture and the hat are available to purchase in limited quantities and sizes. Shipping is included in all prices. (Please not that shipping is sent USPS first-class and may take 7-10 business days to arrive.)
